I was able to see the Transporter in the flesh for the first time at
the London What HiFi show this weekend (and ordered one), so I've only
played with the new remote briefly, but I am a little perplexed by the
praise being heaped on the new remote. I didn't feel the layout was any
better than the old SB remote, and it didn't sit in the hand any more
comfortably. The backlighting will be useful if using it in the dark,
but probably at the expense of battery life. Perhaps once I've taken
delivery and used it at length my opinion will change, but for now I
think it's "just another ordinary remote", no better or worse than the
old SB remote.

Incidentally, unless I got the wrong end of the stick, future SB3s will
be shipping with the new remote (minus backlighting).

mastering -> you think a few extra ps of jitter matters?
