Its still a pain in the ass: uninstall the current Slimserver, download the latest build, install it (and pray to God it works), if it works, download the plugins, install them, reconfigure everything...
There's no need to uninstall if you're staying within a minor version. And absolutely no need to re-download the plugins. My disk is large enough to keep that few kb in my download folder. You can heavily influence the level of pain you're experiencing :-)
