In my case - My son has a Windows laptop and his wife has a Mac laptop. We were firstly going to set up only my son's laptop to access all music on both computers. His wife asked "What happens if he takes his laptop out of the house? Hmm.... We instead installed the software on both laptops. Now, they can each access their own music files even if the other one has taken their laptop out of the house.
