I'm thinking of writing a small plugin to eliminate this delay. The idea would be that every time the server expects you're about to play something (eg when the SB/Tp is turned on, or when "browse" is pressed), it reads a small file from the hard disk in order to wake it up.
I'm not sure how this would work with caching filesystems; writing a file would work better, but would depend on write access to the filesystem, which can't be assumed. Do you guys think that would be useful?
