My preferred solution is to transport a computer display via CAT5 baluns and an FM modulator to the TV sets in the house. Then just play the video's on the computer (which itself is safely tucked away in the cellar). Anything you can play on the PC you can watch on the TV's. Then I use my Lirc plugin to control the whole setup with my SB remote. The software I use is MythTV on Linux. But the same kind of thing could be done with Windows MCE.
