Depends on how you define OS. The kernel is Linux. The OS is often more than the kernel (hence why the FSF says it is "GNU/Linux" since things like gcc, libc, bash, cat, passwd, etc are FSF projects). If the OS includes the presentation layer, ie, the UI (Microsoft certainly argues this as part of why IE is part of the OS), then it would be fair to call it SqueezeOS. Defining OS is part of the problem... I certainly don't believe it is just the kernel. That has never been true, be it CP/M or TOPS-10, the kernel is just part of the OS... and if the os includes commmand line stuff like cat and ls, then why wouldn't a GUI be included as part of the OS as well when it is provided. (It may be an optional part on most Unix systems, but it is a mandatory component on Windows.) -- snarlydwarf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41978 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
