Using the "browse file folder" functionality is the way to go. The only problem with this is that the database will be updated with whatever tags my be in the file. These entries will persist after the file is deleted until you perform a "clear and scan" of you music directory.
Also note that if your settings set up so that you are integrating with iTunes, you won't see the "browse -> folders" option in your SB menu.
