I sometimes run into this problem as well. However my setup is different than yours. I'm still running SS 6.5.4 using IE under Windows XP. It normally happens when I request a list that is relatively long (new music when I've added a lot of items recently being the most common). Maybe the suggestions you've received will do the trick, but I suspect there might be something more going on.
