I literally typed up the post as I tried it. As others have mentioned, all the strings are Unicode already, it's just that the built-in font doesn't have the CJK characters present, and using just any font wont work for licensing purposes.
I'd be glad to help out others getting it to work. As mentioned in my post, the only thing that seemed screwed up is where the titles are displayed in italic - mainly in the details of a song, but *not* in the Now Playing screen.
