I have the Audioengine A2's and like them a lot.  I will say, however,
that they can be boomy if not set up properly.  As someone else
mentioned, they need to be acoustically isolated to perform their best.
Keep them as far away from rear walls as possible and try not to sit
them directly on a shelf without some isolation under them or the shelf
is going to act as a sounding board.  I have mine on little dabs of
BluTak which in turn sit on little felt pads that I had laying around
(from Home Depot) so as to protect the shelf.

Also, another thing to try - which I find works quite well - is the
Inguz EQ plugin.  As I have the A2's set up in my living room, I have
an Inguz preset called (oddly enough) 'living room' that provides a
slight rolloff in the bass.  I simply leave that preset on all the time
for the SB in the living room.  Works beautifully...
