I haven't been following MoCA, and it seems like there still aren't many products out there. There might be a future in it, but it seems to me that Homeplug (networking over home electrical lines) has a few big advantages as a "no new wires" technology, especially (1) the wires are in every room, (2) it's here now, and (3) it's pretty cheap. To me, #1 is a tough one to beat because I have exactly two rooms wired with coax (for tv and internet), compared to every room (and even the backyard) wired with electrical outlets. Someone whose whole house is already wired with coax would likely see things differently.
Of course, the big advantage of MoCA would be the throughput capacity. Verizon is offering FIOS in some areas, but I don't know if they're into MoCA at all. Don't put too much stock in my views though. I once thought HomePNA, which uses phone lines, was going to take off much more than it did (which was not at all). -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46474 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
