What does the log file of X contain after the crash? Not only a
graphic card can crash X but the mouse, keyboard, monitor and even the
monitor cable can have a bad influence. Move the box to a working
workplace and connect the known good periphery, if it works there move
it back and swap one periphery item after an other to find the bad
apple.

If you need more help please give the name and version of the OS and X.
