It's been a while since I had to buy hardware (yay!), but for ~7 years, I was happy with the folks at Silicon Mechanics. Wouldn't hesitate to buy more systems from them. We didn't use the latest components, and they understood that most systems don't need SSDs and 16 cores (and that the real metric is often CPU or I/O per watt). They're in Bothell though I've had them drop ship to datacenters elsewhere.
