I've been with them for around 10 years, and this has happened many times.
Each time, I open a support case, and ask them to please notify me about IP
address changes because I host my DNS elsewhere because I find dreamhost DNS
to be lacking features, and each time, they say "sorry, we can't do that."
You can tell they get this complaint a lot, or they're insulted by the
suggestion that their DNS isn't the best in the world, because the support
rep is all jolly and helpful until that question comes up, and the air goes
suddenly silent.  They get clammed up, and suddenly speak a lot less.  As if
I'm being a nuisance for bringing up that subject *yet* *again*.
