Jane,
Maybe I'm a little late here, but a complete reinstall is seldom
necessary. If you have installed a number of third party apps, it is
often recommended that you perform a Repair disk Permissions using
the Disk Utility app located in your Utilities folder. This usually
remedies most issues. Reinstalling to me is a last resort as you
will be installing an older OS and having to go through all the
process of integrating existing settings and then re-upgrading to
10.4.3. Your call. Good luck!
