Hi, I would doubt very much if usenet groups would be used to submit assignments, but there may be local groups used for discussion purposes. Tin won't have ready SSL support, but it could be added using Sltunnel. You really wouldn't want to use Tin in terminal anyway - TRN would be a much better choice, or SLRN.
