Yes, I second that request to collaborate with brltty. they have an  
excellent program and I would very much like to see it ported to the  
Mac. Dave Mielke says that the main missing piece is access to an API  
system that inspects what's on the screen. I believe Dave has  
requested this information from Apple and last I heard he wasn't  
getting any response from them at all.
