I'm with dave on this one. I didn't use the apple sample, because
the speed was limited. Joe's app though makes it all work. Now I
can record chapters of books, put them on cd, then take them upstairs
for reading at night before bed. it allows me to go to bed earlier.
I actually make it upstairs before midnight most nights now. :)
Plus, once the book is on a cd, I can let my wife read it at work, or
let my 4-year old son use it if it's something he can use.

I have a situation where I need to record text onto audio tape and

As for the difference between vo and Joe's really cool app, If I
have something really long I want to listen to, I can convert it to
audio and fire it up in qt and love listening to it.

I am not sure exactly what the CSKDREV really does diferently than
VO. VO converts text to audio when it reads the words in mail or
safari or text edit etc. Can you explain what yours does
differently or better? Vickie Weir

One more improvement:
You can now multitask with VO even while CSKDREV converts-text-to-
audio-file (though the CSKDREV application itself will remain
busy until conversion is complete). Note: it may take about 5 to
8 seconds for VO to return from the busy CSKDREV application and
become available for use...but after that you should be able to
do whatever you want on you Mac while CSKDREV works on converting
text to audio.
Kind regards,

Hi Folks,
I found a way to workaround VO interrupting CSKDREV text-to-
audio- file conversion. You no longer have to turn VO off to
prevent CSKDREV text-to-audio-file conversion from ending
prematurely. When conversion-to-audio-file is complete, the
CSKDREV application returns, the "audio file complete" sound
plays, and, finally, you hear VO kick back in. Note: you will
not be able to navigate with VO during text-to-audio-file
conversion by CSKDREV. In the future I'll look for ways to allow
you to multitask with VO even during CSKDREV text-to-audio-file
conversion. For now, this does not seem to be possible. I'll
compile and post the new version of CSKDREV sometime this weekend.
Kind regards,
Joe
