Then perhaps this is done on a region by region basis. Anybody else
in the UK managed to update?

I was able to upgrade from work this morning so I don't believe Apple took
it down.
On a different note, others commented about VOE not coming up after the
upgrade well both at home and work, the computer did a re-start twice and I
just left the system to update and VOE came up normally as espceted.
At work a G4 and home Ibook g4.
