I subscribed to a users list at macintoshguy and somebody helped me
figure it out. It's rather roundabout, but in case anybody has been
trying to do it, here's the solution.
First, it's better to go to the narrow bandwidth site because
otherwise safari/voiceover will go busy on you.
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/homepage/narrowband.jsp
Then, if you want an archived game, don't even bother with an "audio"
or "gameday audio" link. Instead, choose "schedule".
Under "schedule" you could either choose the link for "previous three
days" or the link that says "open calendar". there are also popups
for viewing individual team schedules and you might be able to get to
the archives that way, but I haven't tried it.
If you choose "open calendar" hit enter on the date you want; there's
"previous" and "next" for getting to other months.
FINALLY, either having used the link for a date or having gone to
"previous three days" you will find a link with the score of your
game. Hit enter on that and then hit enter on the link with the name
of the radio station you want and "gameday arcive". This takes you to
the audio you want though of course first you get the warning about
your browser and then you have to log in if you haven't already. I
have to think it's some mistake on MLB's part that you can't just go
to gameday audio and on demand and use the popup buttons there, but
at least this does work. There are also links for condensed game,
highlight reel, and mlbtv feeds.
Btw, one of the advantages of using flip4mac is that you can load
more than one game at once and then play with the volumes in the
individual windows to try to make both games listenable. I've
actually loaded as many as three games at once but unfortunately
there's no way to direct the output of individual quicktime windows
either to different audio devices or to separate channels. But if you
really want to keep track of more than one game at once, it can be
useful to some extent.
