Firstly, what's the input voltage of the power adaptor socket on
the Mac.
The rating is 45 W.
Second, the battery seems to have multiple terminals and I can only
assume from this that the battery gives out multiple voltages, why
does it need to do this when the power adaptor only needs to give
out one voltage to supply the Ibook.
The battery is rated at 10.8 V. It is made up of a number of cells,
rather like a car battery.
finally, the battery of my Ibook has one of those buttons on it, when
pressed 5 lights I think it is light up the bottom surface of the
battery to indicate that its fully charged, would this function work
if the battery was out of the machine?
Yes, it does. I have a spare battery for my iBook which has stayed
fully charged outside the machine for at least 4 months. My husband
just checked it by pressing the button.
