Hope this helps.
The docs say to just assign the extension to a non-existent app, and
it will simply launch and close. I didn't see any directions on
doing this, but for myself, I simply clicked add, put brf in the edit
box (not the search one) then clicked applications, clicked other,
then clicked add. It seems to have worked, since when I click on a
brf file, it tells me there's no default app associated with the
extension.
And, in text edit, I typed in a grade 2 braille file (using the grade
2 equivalents instead of spelling things out) and saved it as
test.brf. I then unchecked the box in text edit that says if no
extension is provided, append .txt, and it saved the file with
the .brf extension only.
