Thanks, I'll give those things a try, and see if it helps. I agree
that it was live games, not archives that was the problem. I just
clicked on an archive game, so we'll see if it works.

To launch quicktime, you need to go into the flip4mac pane in
system Preferences. One of the choices in the first tab involves
launching quicktime. also in the second that there's I believe a
checkbox for starting movies automatically; that needs to be check
too. You can experiment with the one for streaming vs. progressive
download; I don't know for sure how much difference it makes.
