Thanks for the info. The lines in my home are new as my house was built
last year so in general I expect that this will be a good solution. I'll be
trekking down to the old Radio Shack today.

Actually, it really has nothing to do with the Mac. If you want to record
phone audio, you need to use either in in-line patch which you can pick up
from Radio Shack for about $15 or so, or use a phone hybrid which comes in
either analog or digital models. Those are much more expensive. The Radio
Shack route will give you a useable signal but it'll be as noisy as your
line is. You can use processing to get rid of the noise but, depending on
your capabilities, this could be tricky. The phone hybrid will give you
excellent results but will run you hundreds of dollars.

Subject: Phone patch question
I had another phone recording type question. I recorded an interview this
morning where I used Skipe and, well, the audio just isn't that great all of
the time. It would probably sound much better if I could just patch right
in to my regular phone and record that. Any thoughts on how I should go
about doing that. I know its slightly off topic but I would be doing it on
my Mac so that gets us back to the focus of the list. I would continue to
use Audio Hijack I believe but would want to just patch in to a regular
phone. I'm using the iMac G4 and honestly, I don't know if I got a modum
included with this or not. If I don't have a modum in the computer is it
still possible to capture my phone audio?
Help would be much appreciated.
