Cheryl;
I think I may have found the problem. I found a set of Preferences in
the Library/Preferences directory I didn't write so here is another
try at the installer. Sorry for all the trouble. It's worked well for
me. I have posted the new installer to the following URL: http://

Hello all.
thought I'd warn people on this list who might not be subscribed to
the discuss list that you should probably not rush out to buy the
canoscan lide 60 unless you have both a display and sighted help.
However wonderful it may be once you get it installed, the setup
program on the cd is totally and disastrously vo-incompatible; all
one sees is a window that says setup, with only little beeps when
one tries to use vokeys in the window. It is possible to install
individual apps one at a time but there doesn't seem to be a way to
install the drivers without the setup program and apparently there
is a certain order in which things need to be installed. Greg
kindly rushed to make aninstaller and sent it to me to try; one
other person on the Discuss list also tried it; it appears to
install the drivers and the toolbox but when one plugs in the
scanner or opens the toolbox app one gets a message saying that a
file may be missing or dammaged or settings may be incorrect and to
reinstall the scanner drivers and then the driver is closed. The
other person on the Discuss list who tried greg's installer finally
was able to install from the cd that comes with the scanner by
having a sighted person do it; apparently it's very simple as one
just checks the apps to be installed and the program does it.
Apparently also it does a good job of scanning. But at least at
this point, don't bother buying it unless you have access to a
monitor and sighted help. will let you all know if there are
further developments.
