That's nice and helpful but again I ask, why should the average user
have to go to all this trouble just to do that? Microsoft really
ought to be ashamed of themselves in this area and by the way, thanks
for posting the link, I'll go and take a look.

I'm just mentioning this because I would assume there are people on

You can install Windows without sighted assistance via an open source
project at http://unattended.sourceforge.net/.
That project requires you to set up a network install server. So you
need to know how to set up a Windows share on another machine and how
to setup dhcp. If you already know how to configure samba and dhcp on
your Mac, you should be able to configure the whole system in a few
hours. I did it on a linux machine.
Coincidentally, I spent much of last weekend trying to make a
talking, stand-alone Windows XP installation CD. I think what you can
do is build a talking bootable diskette with freedos and jaws for
DOS. Then you can run the Win XP installer from freedos with an
answer file for the questions the Win installer would normally ask.
PS: Yeah, I know XP is obsolete... Well, it depends on your
definition of obsolete. Hardly anybody I know has switched to Vista.

You can install Windows without sighted help? I never knew this.
Kept that quiet didn't they?

I suspect, though I can't prove, it may have something to do with
the ability to install Windows without sighted assistance, just
as we can with VoiceOver and the Mac. No details were given,
but that's what I suspect. The beef is a little off topic, I
know; but somebody asked if whether or not Microsoft was treated
the same way in a resolution. Richie Gardenhire, Anchorage, Alaska.
