Let's say I neglected to run repair disk permissions after having
installed emacs and I tested emacs then I went to restart the system
figuring to do repair disk permissions after restart. Tried restarting
system and no VoiceOver no matter how many times com-f5 was hit. The mac
systems are incredibly stable and I oughtn't to have been doing things
with it that late at night. Calculator works better after coffee has been
inserted. I did find out VoiceOver settings do not get preserved in the
system that, or the system preservation failed to some degree. I'm not
sure about network settings either now. I'll find that out later. I'm a
programmer by avocation and vocation and as such I gain experience
directly proportional to the number of megs of data I manage to destroy.
Fortunately the Mac Mini at that point in time was an experimental system.
The same as with a building that could blow up at any time you don't put
any expensive furniture in it.

How come Jude? I thought the mac OS was incredably stable

Not yet, I had to reinstall the system last night and will find out if I
have network connectivity later this week.
