It's a very difficult decision David, I too am thinking of saying
goodbye to Mc at least for now.
Although I am using Latex, for its superior output, or so i am told,
I would for ease of use and speed quite frankly just use a word
processor such as Nisus, but it is not what I am looking for - there
are still sections which are still not as accessible as Id like.
This is just one instance of where I think Windows better suits my
needs. I know Will feels similarly to me.
I do however really like the Mac platform, and it will be a sad day
when I do (if I do) leave.
I will post a detailed message here, and in my web blog, so that
people can see that I am not an Apple basher. I appreciate what Apple
are trying to do, but to be honest, i am overall quite disappointed
with leopard, although it is in many ways a massive improvement over
Tiger.
Anyway I'll message back soon
Take care
James

I'vfe a couple of comments here.
First, there are powerful tools to deliver what you seek for the
Mac. One of those tools is visiovoice which will voice some apps
which vo will not. If you want to go with vo, there are apps which
provide most if not all of what you want. Next, you can put windows
on that box and have the best of both worlds. Last, I gather that
what you mean by no braille is that you cannot use your particular
braille display with Leopard. I say this because I am using two
braille displays quite nicely.
It doesn't really matter in the skeme of things, but if some see
your message below, it will provide amunition for their crusade
against use of the Mac by the blind. I know this is not your
responsibility, but it would be helpfull if you would post a full
account of your issues so that instead of using it as amunition,
they will have the facts clearly spelled out. Asside from not
wanting to loose you as a mac user, it is important to you and
everyone who has worked hard to bring the Mac forward that
everything possible be done to keep you in place as as a Mac user.
Here is what you will say when it is done.
"I had decided to give up my Mac because I could not do the work I
needed to do on the Mac or so I thought. After further examination,
here is how I solved the issues......"
Lastly, you will kick your self in the foot when everything you need
is readiliy to hand and you don't have a Mac to take advantage of
it. It looks for instance like office 2008 will be accessable when
it arrives in the relatively near future. It might be that if you
are using a serial display that apple will support serial displays
and you can use a usb to serial adaptor to run your display. I
cannot currently think of anything I cannot do on the Mac that I
need to do and I have a lot of needs.
