Jed, that rule isn't set in stone. It really depends on the page
itself and it's visual layout. *Remember* -and I say this as a total
JFW user on the Windows side, Jaws completely restructures a webpage
before it shows it to you, so you're really not seeing the page the
way it's meant to be seen in many cases...
I guess for myself, being a previous user of Outspoken for windows,
which acts more like VO as compared with JfW, I may be a bit more used
to this behavior but if you may not be, it may take a bit of getting
used to.
Please also remember, that for sighted users, they too, not only
need to actively look around a web page for items they need, but also
need to actively scroll a page to read /access content. So honestly,
the JFW paradigm is really not based in reality. <smile> Sure, I
think it's absolutely terrific at a lot of things; saving one a lot of
time and such, but it's not the real world in terms of what's actually
going on on the screen. <smile>
Anyway, my point is this; you might need to explore around that
edit field just a bit more to find what yer' after. -And, btw, I'm
not saying yer' wrong, and that VO might not be skipping text. I
certainly have my pet peeves with certain implementations, but please
don't be discouraged. -And for what it's worth, you might consider
arranging all of your thoughts in a coherent note, like wish lists and
such, then looking up what's already in VO, and perhaps sending the
rest along to Apple? VO is still a work in progress, which is a very
fortunate thing, as it means that this will improve!...
I hope this all made sense and if I can help out with any VO info, I
certainly will...
Ciao!

Hey guys,
Alright, more confusion here. Here's where this issue of skipping
over things with safari is a problem.
When i go to gmail, it loads the web page, and then i hit the tab
key, and it says edit text. Now, i happen to know that is the user
name, however when i go vo eft arrow, it doesn't say user name.
Shouldn't it say this?
The point i am trying to get at guys, safari seems to skip out on a
lot in tiger. Can anyone please shed some light on this?
It is getting me very discouraged. I was told that if you get on a
box like this with the tab key, you just go vo left arrow, and you
should see the question it is asking you to input data for. It is
not doing it.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jed
