is there a way to see a list of channels on irssex besides typing /join
followed by the channel name? I know some cliants have a way however, I
haven't found one in irssex.

what would you like to have read automatically. If you mean the incoming
text, I haven't tried but think a hopspot would be superb for this. The
reason of course it speaks the text when you hit return is that it is only
sending it then. as you input keystrokes, it honors the settings for
character echo in vo.
