James,
The fact that the drive can play DVD's seems to contradict the idea
that the drive itself is bad. What happens when you put a CD in the
drive? Have you tried to create a new user account and determined if
the problem is specific to one account? Have you tried repairing
permissions?

Hi Marshall,
Unfortunately this did not work. I think it might be a problem with
the drive itself, but I am not entirely sure as it seems to play
DVDs okay as i said in a previous message.

James,
Check out the setting in System Preferences:CD's and Dvd's. It
sounds like the default action for CD's has been modified.

I haven't experienced this personally, but a friend of mine has.
She took a trip to the apple store where they were able to fix it.
Hope this helps.

Hi folks,
My CD Drive doesn't like accepting Cs, it spits them out, but it
will ply DVs and will take the Leopard install DVD?
Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks
James
