somehow the site knows what oporating system you have so you'll get
a .dmg file. this is a disc image. once it's done downloading,
command o will open the file. find something called skype.app. this
is the program. now copy the .app file (command c) and close this
window. not go to your applications folder. i do this by finding my
harddrive on the desktop, then opening it with command o again. now
the first folder you should find is a folder called applications.
open the folder with command o. now paste in this .app file
(command v). now hit s til vo says skype.app. now command will open
it and skype will launch! now create a username and password for
yourself. then skype will bring up your profile that you can fill
out with whatever information you want or you can close it and not
fill it out. first we need to get something off the desktop. look
for somethng called skype. this is not a folder. what that dmg file
did was put on a kind of vertual drive so that it could be opened
and you could get to the program. since the program is installed,,
it's not longer needed. hitting command e will eject this "drive"
and won't hurt the mac at all. their's no need to do anything else.
it's gone from your mac. now back to skype. just go through the
menues to the skype menu, make sure the prefferences are set how
you'd like them, then go to the contacts menu and start to add
people. it's a very easy process, just follow the dialog that
you'll get. you can voice chat with other people and type to them
in text if you want. i'm not sure if i typed too much or not. i
didn't know how much you knew about how the mac works yet. if you
know some of this, just read what you don't. hope this helps.
