Not as slow as a snail. I would fully believe that Alex reads 300
words per minute. That is too slow. Before I updated I clocked my
average reading speed with Fred at 450 words per minute.
I have not tried the system voices but that is interesting that people
notice differences. it seems like they have done something in
voiceover in the way that it handles the synthesizers to make it read
with tonality and inflection which works great for Alex, but it seems
like they have just done the same for all the voices which does not
work for the more computer like voices like Fred.
It is certainly snappy, but I am still always surprised at how much
faster jaws can speak under winblos while maintaining clarity. Again,
our voices sound way better, but it comes at a cost of having
generally slower reading
It bothered me when I upgraded, but it does not bother me as much. I
would have never been annoyed by it if they hadn't messed up the other
voices.

It's weard for me though. At 100 percent system voice, he's slow. At
100 percent VoiceOver speed, he's faster. When Alex, for instance,
is
announcing the time I can bairly hear t corectly. I must've dome
something to make it speak extremely fast, ans well.
