Hi Dennis - at a guess it would be downloaded to some sort of tempary folder somewhere. Sorry, i know thats not particularly helpful. What might help you though is hitting option-enter on the link that points to the file you want to download instead of the usual enter or VO-space. Doesn't work on 100% of sites, but 9 times out of 10 this will force a download of the object the element you clicked on is linking too. I think you can also control the default behaviour for this kind of stuff in safari preferences.
