Is this something new for downloading?

When I was surfing on Safari I pressed option return by mistake and I  
noticed that the download window opened and downloaded the application  
that I was reviewing. I tried this on other software download sites  
and sure enough it worked every time. Did I discover something new or  
am I just behind the times?
