add/remove programs?

Hi friends,

I'd like to clean up my macbook a little.  There's a lot of stuff on  
here I don't need, like for example, the utterly useless demo of  
microsoft office 2008 for mac.  So I've been looking around system  
preferences, and I haven't found anything that looks like a package  
manager such as add/remove programs in windows.  Where do I go to get  
rid of  programs  I have no desire to carry around on my macbook?
