Hi Vashaun,
VJ: All I want to do is take a .avi file and cut the commercials
and join the other parts together to make a commercial free movie.
Do you know if I can do this with I Movie?
TK: I believe that you'd first have to convert the .avi file to
a .mov using QuickTime Pro or some other app like FFMPEG. Once it's
a .mov file, you'd be able to import it into iMovie, split the movie
at the beginning and end of commercials, remove the commercial section
between the splits and voila it's done. You can then make a DVD out
of it or out of a couple of them if you so choose. The editing part
of the iMovie process is not accessible though so you'll need sighted
assistance or if you have some vision you may be able to handle this
on your own. Playing partially edited movies, adding voice-overs and
such are doable with VO. I've used iMovie to do many similar things
and it's quite an amazing little tool. FYI, I do use sighted
assistance for these processes as I'm unable to do them myself.

Hi Vashaun,
You asked: I have finally been able to get my Mac configured to
work with my TIVO with the help of a good list member and friend
using a few hacks and workarounds. Now I want to edit video and
don't know what I should get to do this. Are there any video guys
out there that can advise on this topic?
TK: Have you looked at iMovie that is pre-installed on your Mac?
It's an awesome video editing solution. Parts of it are accessible
but not all. If you're looking for something totally accessible
for this, I'm not sure where you'll find it.
