Hi all, I had to turn the keyboard off and then back on again and now the fn key works as it should. It came up with the function keys as hardware but I was able to check the box to use them as software keys and it works just fine now. I suppose I could leave it the way it was in windows but I don't like having keys do hardware things by accident or someone elses design.
