New version of Abiword - compile seems necessary

Hi folks,

Well Abiword has developed a new version 2.6.3 I think it is. However,  
it does not yet appear to available for Mac OS X. It is available for  
Linux and Windows, although I have downloaded the source and was  
wondering how I would go about compiling the software. I downloaded a  
tragz file which I unzipped and it gave me a lot of files that I've no  
idea what to do with. Has anyone ever compiled software from source  
code before?
