perhaps you can make a litle bash-script dat is doing something like:
date | say
but I don't know if you can connect a hotkey to a alias of a file like you
can do in windows...

I can't speak for Windows screen readers, but to answer your question
there isn't a single keystroke to do this. It's just as easy as the
keystroke invoked with JAWS but not just one keystroke movement.
