Question for all you GarageBand users

I personally don't use GarageBand, but my sighted sister does, and  
she's new to the Mac. A friend of hers went in and changed a setting  
and as a result, she can't record. I've never messed with GarageBandm  
except to open it, so if anyone could give me some ideas on how I can  
help her out, I'd like that a lot. Thanks.
