You know it just isn't a great idea leaving the notebook on the floor especially if there is carpeting. They make stands that would be much better and you really shouldn't operate the machine closed as has been pointed out. There is a way to override this, but not at all recommended.

can i ask why you want to close the lid and play music? This would increase the chances of the macbook over heating
