it's easier to do it that way and with windows spreading its self all over the place, you don't want to cramp it too much or it will just come to a nasty hault. You will get lots of opinion on this but my experience over many years has been that if you don't leave enough room, it fails. You may never need half your drive but unless you need a lot of room for your mac stuff, providing a lot of room for windows is a good idea.
