Hello, >I have a friend who uses Windows XP with JAWS. She wants to subscribe >to podcasts and (optionally) use her first generation shuffle as a >portable means of access... Though according to her, iTunes for >Windows is not at all supported by JAWS (e.g., there are little or no >scripts out there).
I know very little about using iTunes and iPods with JAWS under Windows XP, but your friend might check out the J-Tunes scripts for using iTunes with JAWS and subscribe to the Blind iPod Mailing List. You can find links to this information from: http://www.hartgen.org/ and read about details of J-Tunes from the links for iPod products at that site. >Is it true that there is no JAWS support of iTunes for Windows? If >there is, can anyone point me to a good resource? If there isn't, are >there any viable alternatives to iTunes that are accessible, would >allow her to download podcasts, and either independently or in >conjunction with iTunes would sync said casts into her shuffle? She >also has a Victor; are there any facilities for downloading podcasts >via that route? >Best, >Abdul Perhaps new members on this list can suggest good podcatching client alternatives to iTunes? It is certainly not necessary to use iTunes for podcast subscriptions, but should your friend do so the standardization of iTunes versions between Windows and the Mac should make migrating at a later time fairly simple. Hope this helps. Cheers, Esther
