Hey Tiffany, how are you doing?
As for the trash this is how I am doing it. I am using Leopard, so if
you are using Leopard, it should work the same. Then, when you get to
the Doc, just press your up arrow, and you can get into the context
menu associated with the Trash.
There is probablly an easier way of doing it, but for now, that is how
I am doing it.

Use Command F3 to go to your Doc, and then just cycle through until
you get to the trash.
