You said: Ok, I did a software update and that still didn't help. I
checked in
the universal access menu and the mouse keys were off. Then, I opened
up VO and the numpad commander was unchecked. It's really weird,
cause I can do things like command o to open things but I can't do any
editing functions that involve command and I can't get to applications
in the finder menu with command shift a. I have to open the Macintosh
hd and then open applications that way. But yet, I can do things like
command shift h to get to the home folder in the finder. I don't
know what this is or why it started, but I really wish I could stop it
and fast.
TK: Does your cmd key work with the Get Info command (cmd-i)? Can
you copy and paste with the cmd-c and cmd-v commands? When you
type, does the "A" key work for every stroke? It sounds to me like
there is an issue with your keyboard. It could be the physical
keyboard if the "a" key doesn't work in numerous settings. It may
even be that somehow your keyboard has become a different language
keyboard where the "a" key has some other designation. Is your
keyboard wireless or USB or do you have a MacBook? Sometimes when
the batteries are getting low in wireless keyboards, strange things
happen.
No real answers for you I guess, just more questions, sorry.
