I'd be interested to see whether or not the equalizer and other settings are

The new iPod nano will speak automatically once you have synced your
content. THe speech option checkbox is in the info settings for the
device. THis checkbox is checked by default.
Also, I should note that once speech options are set from the system
prefs, (i.e) speech rate, and speech voice, these settings are permanent
until you change them. Also, all syncing is done automatically, any new
artist/titles/albums/podcasts/audio books will be spoken once you sync
the content.
Another cool feature is that current playing content is slightly lowered
when the iPod is speaking titles. THat is Apple has implemented ducking
so that the user can hear the speech, and still listen to the currently
playing content. It is a very nicely done feature.
