Hello, The option to turn a document into a PDF file is present within
the print dialogue command+p in a number of applications. It is a pop-
up button, activated with vo+spacebar. I've successfully created PDF
files in the following applications: Safari, Mail, Textedit. There may
be more but I have found the above most useful.
With best wishes
Simon

When you say, Josh, in the print dialog, are you meaning the dialog
within Preview, or do you mean just, period, really in any program?
Chris.

Why is that cricket sound done by preview in the middle of pdf
documents then there's no more of the document read?

Josh, I can definitely relate to PDFs being more enjoyable on the
Mac -- I'm almost starting to like having PDF manuals given the
way Preview allows us to navigate. Thanks for pointing me toward
the print dialog, I looked there, but didn't expand the options
or something. I'm still not sure how authors break documents up
into sections, but some Googling will probably help me figure
that piece out.
Thanks again,
Steve

Steve,
Near the bottom of the Print dialog on the Mac is a menu button
with PDF creation options. I haven't used it much, but it will
allow you to create them. Incidentally, I enjoy reading PDF's on
the Mac, something I hated passionately under Window. :)

With zillions of pdf files on my Mac, I'm surprised that I don't
see a utility for creating one. I'm writing a short how to of
sorts and have been asked to create it as a pdf file, ideally,
with sections divided into an outline, the way I've seen various
help files and manuals done. Does anyone know how to do this?
is there a utility somewhere that I'm just missing?
Thanks,
Steve
