I absolutely love the way Peter says "IPod" when it's finished.

ep, call me goldylox. I couldn't access the podcast, it gave me a mouse
thing. I guess the have moved on or something came up rong.

I can still get the YouTube video with Peter as the voice of the iPod Nano 4g.

Try going to:

http://www.youtube.com/

and typing or pasting in:

Spoken Menus in British on iPod nano 4G through Infovox iVox

into the search box.

Then bring up the links chooser menu (VO-U) and type "s p"
to find the link for Spoken menus . . . etc. and press VO-space twice.
(Once to go to the link and the second time to select it).

It takes a little while for the video to load, but you should hear Peter start
speaking the iPod menu. Not as entertaining as listening to Julie speak
in French, and no music demos, but something to sample if you're an
enthusiast of Peter's voice.

I still think that Macworld did a better job with their video podcast of the
Spoken menu options of the 4G iPod Nano, and they discussed the
accessibility aspects of this (and iTunes 8). Anyone who is interested
can find the link to podcast at the iTunes Store in the appended post
(below). Or check the Macworld feed at:

feed://www.macworld.com/weblogs/mwvodcast.rss

And for those who missed Anne's post with the link to the YouTube video
of Spoken Menus in French on the 4G iPod Nano it's at:

http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z1d2fFlTqk

and titled:

iPod nano 4G : les menus parlés

Cheers,

Esther

Hi David,

Assistiveware put up a YouTube video of Peter as the voice of the iPod
Nano 4G, but I don't think he sounds nearly as good as Julie does
speaking the menus in the YouTube link the Anne put up. Still, listen
for yourself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2DsOjMNixc

(Spoken Menus in British on iPod nano 4G through Infovox iVox)

posted September 17, 2008
(I think they got a whole batch of hits from the French YouTube video,
and decided to put their own video up) I also think this is not as
good as the Macworld video podcast review that Don Frakes gave. The
podcast at the iTunes store is:

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?i=38987706&id=207054170

or you can go the RSS feed at:

feed://www.macworld.com/weblogs/mwvodcast.rss

It was interesting tracking the French video back to read the comments
on the posting web site -- especially all the comments from people
berating the reviewer (well, perhaps pressing with great interest, to
be more polite) for not including more details about the recording
functions, since the Apple Earphones with Remote and Microphone that
are due to arrive next month aren't yet available. See the Apple
Store for a description:

David, your reference to the one or two volume settings that are just
right makes this sound like Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

Cheers,

Esther

Once you
have done a first sync, the IPod speaks some status messages when
you sync
again.

ONe more thing and then I'll shut up for the night or day depending
on your
point of view.

This is one of the few digital audio devices I have found that
provides a
good volume gradient. Most have settings that are either too high
or to low
with not that one or two settings between that are just right.

David's right, though, that you can use the Player Status window in
iTunes to monitor the status of the sync as it is in progress -- you
can hear when the spoken titles are generated and what songs are being
downloaded in between the iPod sync messages. There's no need to sit
around twiddling your thumbs and wonder what's going on up to the
point where you hear the iPod speak -- and then you hear the "iPod"
announced as soon as the sync is completed.

Cheers,

Esther

Seriously though, I agree, I absolutely love the progress / level
of access that has just happened here over night as it were. yes,
there are a couple of things I'd like to see, but I'm super
impressed!

Smiles,

For those who may fear it, the IPod snc process is quite

heard and followed the instructions on how to select plalists and
such, but
what was really nice was tracking the sync process to its end.
