Dane, you absolutely can tell which contacts are on / offline etc.
If you show contact groups, and select the groups you'd like
displayed, your contacts whom are online will show up in your online
group and those that are not, will show up in your 'all' group. NOw,
the probs I have are that I cannot seem to find a way to access
contact details requests from users. I have a large number of users
who can't see whether I'm online or not, as I can't seem to send them
my contact details after the fact. I.E. If I've added someone to my
contacts, either on my own, or upon their request, if my contact
details aren't sent to them as they should be, I may be able to see
them online but they won't see me. They'll show a question mark next
to my name and Skype will tell them that I haven't approved their
contact request. So if I don't get it immediately when the request
comes in, it seems that I cannot access the appropriate dialogue to
approve them after the fact.
I do hope I've made sense…

Now just twisting the subject slightly, I run both Windows and Mac
versions of Skype here and it would seem to me at least that Skype
for Mac provides better audio than the Windows version? I'm sure its
just not my imagination <smile>
